January
We had a busy and exciting start to 2020 in our classroom.
We started swimming lessons on the first Monday morning after the Christmas break and have nearly completed our 6 weeks of lessons. We are also learning about water safety back in the classroom through the PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) from Water Safety Ireland.
PANTO season is upon us in Timahoe NS. and we are really enjoying the practise and preparation. This is our first time taking part in the school panto and we are just so thrilled to be involved. We have lots of songs to learn. We have also been working on designing the tickets and our family coats of arms this month.
One of the highlights of this month was Thursday Thrills organised by Rang a Sé. We sampled lots of treats. There was facepainting, mini golf, nerf gun target practise, the nintemdo wii, ring throw and much more.
We have started our class novel “The Giggler Treatment” by Roddy Doyle. It’s hilarious and we are really enjoying the read. We created gigglers from clay during art class and painted them also.

Third Class
The past two months have passed by in a whirlwind as we have been so busy in the run up to Christmas.
One of the main highlights was our trips to the Naíscoil. Our class was split into two groups to visit Ms. Moore's and Ms. Healy's classes. We really enjoyed doing art, circle time, jigsaws and singing with the boys and girls.
In maths we have moved onto multiplication and division. We are enjoying the challenge and the skipcounting songs we are learning. Ms. Matthews has set multiplication and division tasks for us to complete on Khan academy. It's great fun as we have to use the iPads and laptops to complete these tasks. During science class we are learning how to code.
Ms. Kilmartin is keeping us fit with Active Advent. Each day we get out into the fresh air for exercise. Our Active homework is a huge hit also.
Christmas was the theme for our art lessons throughout December. We created snowmen and painted Christmas scenes on glass. Have a look at the photographs below.

October in Rang a trí.
Its hard to believe that we have just finished our second month in third class. We have been super busy.
At the beginning of October the new extension on our school was officially opened. It was a lovely day and all the guests were impressed at our rendition of the song "This is Me." To celebrate the official opening our class was treated to a drumming workshop in the school hall. It was great fun. We even composed a music piece of our own.
We had a visit from three firemen who spoke to us about the importance of fire safety.
We worked on our Solar System project and presented it to Intel Judge Anne Tilson at our science fair. She was really impressed with our project and presentation skills.
We celebrated maths week with lots of games and station work, entered the Credit Union art competition, dressed up for Halloween and lots more. Have a look at the photographs below.

Welcome to the third class web page. We have 14 boys and 9 girls in our class. We are well settled into third class now that September has nearly passed us by. We have lots to be excited about this year and are already hard at work. At yard time we are really enjoying getting to go UP PITCH and play in the hideouts. It’s great to have so much space to play. Football training has started with the help of Ms. Kilmartin. She is well impressed at how our skills are improving.
We use the iPads and laptops in our class every week. Ms. Matthews tests our English and maths skills with the interactive quiz tool Kahoot. We are also using the iPads and laptops to help us research and present our whole class science project for our science fair in October. Lots of fun was had recently in our class when we investigated if we could take a paperclip for a walk with a magnet. We discovered that the magnet pulled the paperclip through many different materials.
We take part in Cómhrá ar an Maidhc every week and love getting the chance to show off the Gaeilge we have learned throughout the week. We also made friendship bracelets this month. It was great fun helping each other out.
