The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme
The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme (DPSM) is part of Science Foundation Ireland's (SFI) Discover Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public. The SFI Discover Programme seeks to promote the awareness and engagement of the Irish public with STEM.
Scoil Mhuire Fatima have been awarded 5 SFI Discover Science & Maths Plaque of excellence in recognition of the incredible science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) work happening in our school. The Award brings a range of benefits; it provides a structure for STEM work, raises the profile of science in the school and among parents and increases whole school collaboration. Our DPSM log book documents evidence of the ongoing work happening across all classes from Junior Infants to Sixth class. We submit our log book for adjudication in late April of each year.
Within the SFI Discover Programme schools are provided with the opportunity to have a volunteer engineer visit their school to broaden students knowledge in the area of engineering. This visit typically takes place during Engineers week ( March/April)
