Confirmation
This year’s confirmation is due to take place on the 22nd of May and we are all looking forward to it with great excitement. For the first time both 5th and 6th Class will make their confirmation and the big news is that Bishop Denis Nulty will be in attendance.
The confirmation candidates are very busy preparing for the sacrament both in school and within the parish. Here are some of the things they are getting up to:
Most importantly though, they are enjoying the journey to confirmation and looking forward to saying ‘yes’ to God for themselves.

- Leading the confirmation masses in the parish
- Learning prayers, songs and mass responses in school
- Learning about the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit
- Leading the school masses throughout the year
- Visiting the church to practice the ceremony
- Writing personal letters to the Bishop
- Choosing confirmation names
- Choosing confirmation sponsors
- Preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on the 9th of March
- Going to a confirmation retreat in Castletown on the 10th of May
- Preparing for the Service of Light
- Raising money for the Bóthar na nGabhar charity
Most importantly though, they are enjoying the journey to confirmation and looking forward to saying ‘yes’ to God for themselves.
