Active Flag
Scoil Mhuire Fatima is involved in the Active School’s initiative. This initiative involves the whole school community working towards a more active lifestyle through PE, sport, physical activity and healthy eating both within and outside school hours.
Our Active School Committee consists of two pupils from each class from Junior Infants – Sixth Class. These pupils represent their classes at our Active School meetings, allowing the pupils to use their voice. Every week, class representatives visit each class to record any healthy active achievements pupils have been involved in. These achievements are announced to the whole school over the school speaker.
Pupil achievements are displayed on our Active Schools Board.
Our Active School slogan is:
‘Don’t just sit around, there is fun to be found, get outside and play you’ll have a better day.’ Sinéad Buggy (Past Pupil)
Our school received their first active school flag in June 2015 after displaying vast evidence of active activities and healthy eating. Some of these activities were in Gaelic football, soccer, hurling, camogie, swimming, cycling, basketball, gymnastics, dance and rounders.
More information about the Active School’s initiative can be found on www.activeshoolflag.ie.
Our Yard Leaders are members of the Active School Committee in the senior end of the school. They organise playground games and activities for the junior classes during lunch times. This is great fun as everyone gets involved in these games.
